Sebastian Vettel, the four-time world champion, is on the verge of rejoining F1 in 2025 after engaging in talks with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and others. Seb retired at the end of the 2022 season with 53 race wins in his 16-year career.

At the time of retirement, the German racer revealed that the time he spent as a race driver, traveling to various countries for races in a year, and not being able to give enough time to his family and perform his job properly was consuming the time he wanted to spend with his children and family, which wouldn’t come back.

This was the reason behind his retirement. However, while talking to the Mercedes team boss recently, he hinted that he might enter the world of racing again in 2025.

Let’s delve deeper into the conversation of Vettel and others where he gave a hint on his comeback into the sport.

Sebastian Vettel’s F1 Comeback: The Return Of The German Racing Sensation

At the beginning of February, Lewis Hamilton announced his move to Ferrari after 11 years, creating huge chaos in the driver market for the 2025 seat at Mercedes, where Sebastian Vettel was considered one of the potential drivers.

However, when asked whether he’s included in the driver market for 2025, Seb told SkySports on Wednesday: “Potentially I am because I haven’t got a drive, but the question is, am I looking for one? I think it depends on the package,” he said:

“I retired from Formula One not to come back, but I also did say that you never know. So I think it still stands.” he even mentioned missing on some things like winning races and competitions, he also added: “You never know where life is taking you, so maybe it takes me back behind the wheel, maybe it doesn’t”.

While a seat at Mercedes becomes vacant in 2025, Vettel is already in rumours of joining the silver arrows linking him with Toto wolf.

“I’ve had conversations with him (Wolff), not really about the seat. We did speak about the whole situation in short as well,” he said.

“But I did speak to others as well because I’m still keeping in touch every now and then. I have some projects and ideas together with F1. We’ll see if they will turn out or not.

“So I am staying in touch. I don’t know. It has to be a couple more phone calls and conversations, I guess, to really find out a little bit more. But for sure it’s one of the best seats on the grid.”

The seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton has also commented on Vettel’s comeback “I would love for Seb to comeback,” said Hamilton ahead of this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.

“He would be an amazing option for the team.

“A German driver, a multi-world-championship-winning driver and someone who has got amazing value and continues to take this team forward,I’d love it if he came back.

George Russell added “Sebastian’s a great person and he’s a four-time world champion and for sure his personality is missed on the grid and I think it’s important that we have the best 20 drivers in the world all competing for race wins and championships,” said Russell.

“So, as I said before, I’m really happy and open having anybody as my team-mate, you know, whether it’s world champion, whether it’s a rookie, it doesn’t change how I go about my business. And yeah, as I said, we’ll welcome anybody.”
