The Formula 1 Grand Prix has a massive history, starting back in 1950 when the first world championship race took place at Silverstone, United Kingdom. Formula One has changed so far from that particular era, introducing new teams, young talented drivers, developments in the technology of cars, rule changes, witnessed iconic moments of the World Championship and Grand Prix.

Talking about the Grand Prix, their location and circuits have a huge impact on the competitiveness of the sport. One of the most competitive circuits is the Marina Bay Street Circuit of the famous “Singapore Grand Prix”. When is the Singapore Grand Prix on the F1 calendar?

Singapore is one of the three Grand Prix’s that are run at night and the first Street circuit to run in Asia. Earlier it was held at the Thompson Road before returning to Marina Bay in 2008. The SGP is famous for its night appearances, top music performances, and enhanced on-track actions. The Singapore Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on the weekend of 20-22 September and is set to be the 18th race of the 2024 season. The first two free practice sessions will be held on the 20th with qualifying on Saturday 21 September. The main event is set to return on Sunday 22 September at 13:00 BST in 2024.

Marina Bay Circuit the heart of the F1 action, has a stretch of 5.063 kilometers, where the cars turn their steering 23 times around the track to complete 61 laps to win the race. Lewis Hamilton in 2018 recorded the fastest lap (1:41.905) on the Marina Bay. Sebastian Vettel has five victories on this track which is the most among all drivers. Marcedes is the only team that has won multiple constructor championships here. Singapore Grand Prix’s main grandstands are at City Hall, Stamford, and Connaught from where the best view appears.

In 2023 we saw Carlos Sainz lead the entire race, and in the final lap, George Russell’s mistake led to his retirement hitting the wall, resulting in Sainz claiming his victory, with Norris second and Hamilton third. The same lineup will be seen competing in 2024 at the “Singapore Grand Prix”
