Conor McGregor saw Francis Ngannou unleash a top-level performance against Tyson Fury in Riyadh in a boxing event that was attended by celebrities from all over the world. The Irishman is one of the pioneers of the trend, who began the crossover fighting by facing Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

Following his footsteps, several MMA legends like Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and others have dared to face boxers in a pugilistic affair. Meanwhile, Francis Ngannou’s performance appeared to be the best.

The former UFC heavyweight champion knocked down Tyson Fury in round three of the fight and landed several power punches throughout. Despite so, Ngannou lost the bout via split decision but managed to earn appraisals from everyone.

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor expressed his gratitude for attending the event in a social media post. He also went on to tease the fact that boxers don’t generally step inside the MMA cage while MMA fighters dare to compete in boxing.

‘Notorious’ wrote, “Great to bump into some old friends in Mike Tyson, Cristiano Ronaldo and Rio among many! I wonder will we now see a boxer venture to mma competition? Due in my opinion, and that, I would pay to see! ‘UFC’”

Although boxers like Claressa Shields and Amanda Serrano have signed deals with PFL MMA, not many boxers make a transition to the MMA world. However, umpteen MMA fighters remain keen to try themselves.

While several MMA fighters performed well against professional boxers, McGregor believes his performance against Floyd Mayweather was the best. Even better than Canelo Alvarez.

Conor McGregor believes he was the best against Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor fought undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather in 2017 inside the ring. Despite no professional experience, ‘The Notorious’ appeared good against the boxing legend.

Unfortunately, McGregor was stopped in the 10th round of the bout. Nevertheless, he earned a whopping over $100 million, making it the biggest-selling fight in the history of the sport.

Not only that, but a few days ago, McGregor also asserted on Twitter that his performance against Mayweather was one of the greatest. He said so by comparing his fight with Canelo Alvarez vs. Mayweather.

In the tweet, McGregor claimed he landed more shots than Alvarez. However, according to the BoxingScene report, it doesn’t appear to be true. Nevertheless, the Irishman had better shot accuracy against Mayweather compared to Alvarez. Thus, he might have come to this assertion. Still, one can’t deny that ‘The Notorious’ delivered a spectacular show against a boxing GOAT.
