Dricus Du Plessis kept his promise of bringing the world title to South Africa as he beat former champion Sean Strickland via decision at UFC 297. ‘Still Knocks’ is now the middleweight champion as he called out Israel Adesanya for the first title defense.

However, Khamat Chimaev seems interested in testing himself against Dricus Du Plessis. Despite having no recognition against natural middleweights, ‘Borz’ wanted to compete for the title at UFC 300.

Following Dricus Du Plessis’ win over Sean Strickland, Khamzat Chimaev took to Twitter and wrote, “see you soon Biplipsi.”

UFC 300 will be happening in April as Dana White wants to host multiple title fights in the landmark event. He has already confirmed Leon Edwards’s presence in the card while other fights are under process. It remains to be seen whether Dricus Du Plessis chooses to defend his newly earned middleweight strap in April or wait out for some more time.

He put on a spectacular performance against Sean Strickland at UFC 297 and put the fans on their toes. Besides opening up Strickland’s face, Du Plessis also dominated the bout on the ground. After the co-main event between Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva failed to impress many fans, Du Plessis and Strickland delivered an interesting contest.

Upon considering the current MW scenario, these two can lock horns in a rematch somewhere down the line. That said, Dricus Du Plessis is now in charge to call the shots. Here’s a look at the complete UFC 297 results.
