UFC 300: We are set for a historic event, and after every fight announcement, it is becoming better and better. And now, one match that has caught the attention is the BMF title fight, all set to take place between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway. While it’s a second title fight announcement, as it’s not a traditional title, there are some questions that fans have regarding this title. Here’s a brief history about it.

BMF Title: What Are Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway Fighting For?

While every title in the UFC corresponds to each weight division, aiming to classify the fighter as the best in their division and having overcome almost every challenge thrown their way, the BMF (Baddest Motherf*****) title stands apart from the traditional titles.

It is designed for the savage fighter, and the concept originated in 2019 at UFC 244. The fight was between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, where the winner earned this title. The idea and concept were simple: to add excitement to the fight, celebrating two of the savage fighters of the sport and their tenacity and resilience.

In that fight, Masvidal won the match and claimed the title. However, he never defended it. After his retirement, when Dana White saw an opportunity to set a BMF fight, he wasted no time and booked a title fight. At UFC 291, Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier fought for the title, where, with a head kick, ‘The Highlight’ floored ‘The Diamond’ at Salt Lake City.

And now, for the first time ever, the BMF title will be defended at the historic event of the company, UFC 300. While it is not a new concept, given the title of being the most savage fighter of the company is on the line, where both are sitting with 25 wins in their career, it will be interesting to see who will take the BMF home – will it be defended, or will a new fighter claim this prestigious title?
