MMA Fans who were disheartened to know that Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic isn’t happening at UFC 295 can now sit in relief as ‘Bones’ has clarified his intentions of facing Miocic and no one else on his return.

Heavyweight champion Jon Jones suffered a torn pectoral tendon during his fight camp. Dana White broke the news on social media. Since  Jones vs Miocic isn’t happening, Dana White uplifted Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazaka LHW Title fight to the UFC 295 main event. Tom Aspinall vs Sergey Pavlovich is on the co-main event for the Interim heavyweight belt.

Meanwhile, Jon Jones took to social media himself and shed views on his current conditions. He also outlined his future plans in the sport of MMA and thanked the UFC for their constant support.

Jon Jones said, “The goal is to get surgery tomorrow, and get back to work as soon as possible. I guess it will be Stipe and I at a later date, and that’s my plan. So it’ll be surgery and physical therapy for me for the next several months. But I’m committed and my head is high. Thank you to everyone who’s prayed for me.”

“And I love you all, and again, sincere apologies to the fans, I know some of you guys it was a huge commitment to get out to Madison Square Garden, hopefully these other heavyweights, Aspinall and Sergei, put on a great show for you guys. I may even show up to the event to watch, but I love you all and your boy, Jon Jones, is doing okay, I’ll be okay!”

Who Will Jon Jones Defend His UFC Heavyweight Title Against?

The Interim heavyweight championship fight between Tom Aspinall and Sergey Pavlovich is to set the next mandatory title challenger. Hence, the winner between the two should ideally welcome Jon Jones back to the UFC.

That said, Dana White has clarified that the winner of UFC 295 co-main event should wait until Jones vs Miocic gets over.

Miocic is arguably he greatest MMA heavyweight of all time. Also, Jones is considered the greatest martial artist by many. So, they are still aligned to face each other over everyone else.
