UFC 296 Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington
Follow Us

Leon Edwards retained his welterweight title after five rounds of battle against Colby Covington via decision in the main event of UFC 296.

Despite facing ‘Chaos’ Covington on his opponent’s turf in the USA, Leon Edwards displayed high-level combat and didn’t let his American rival get the upper hand. Colby Covington had returned to the ring after more than two years.

Riding on so much ring rust, Covington didn’t seem very comfortable trading shots with the UFC welterweight champion. He did his best and tried every possible move to grab the 170 lbs strap. It was indeed a close contest. However, Leon Edwards made sure to not let his championship status go away. Meanwhile, Edwards also pocketed a lucrative sum to close off 2023 in style.
