The McLaren founded in 1963 by Bruce McLaren, is one of the oldest active teams in F1 and has competed since 1966. The team won its first-ever Grand Prix at the 1968 Belgian Grand Prix. Following Bruce McLaren’s death in a 1970 testing accident, Teddy Mayer overtook the leadership and led them to win their first-ever “Formula 1 constructors championship” in 1974. In the same year, Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt secured the team’s first-ever driver’s championship.

Who Is Going To Drive For McLaren In 2024?
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are the two young drivers who have been driving for McLaren since 2018. Lando has over 600 career points since he joined F1, but has secured only one pole position and has yet to claim a victory. On the other hand, Oscar claims 97 points with 0 victories to his name. While both young drivers showcase talent, they still fall short in achieving victories. McLaren has decided not to change their driver’s lineup for 2024, following drivers’ contracts ending in 2026. Norris, aged 24 is set to start his sixth season with McLaren, while the 22-year-old Piastri is set for his second season after debuting with the team in 2023.
Andrea Stella who has the shared McLaren leadership, appreciated Norris by saying, “he has brought a lot to the team holding the record for the most podiums without any win (13)”. “The relationship between Lando and Oscar I think is a point of strength for our team”, he said. The same drivers are set to start the season on March 2 in Bahrain.
McLaren becomes the first to reveal their livery for 2024. The car features Orange and black more like a papaya which has been the colour scheme since 2018. The MCL38, McLaren’s 2024 livery is set to be unveiled on valentine’sDayy, it will proceed to Bahrain for the preseason testing starting on February 21. CEO Zak Brown expressed “We’re delighted to launch our 2024 Formula 1 livery ahead of the new season.
