UFC 297 will be this year’s first PPV, headlined by middleweight champion Sean Strickland putting his belt at stake against challenger Dricus Du Plessis on January 20 at the Scotiabank Arena in Canada.
The stacked Pay-Preview will feature two title fights. Following Amand Nunes’s retirement, the vacant women’s bantamweight title will now have its next champion. In the co-main event, female superstars- Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva will lock horns for the belt.
That said, the promotion is looking to have three female champions- Alexa Grasso, Zhang Weili, and the winner of Pennington vs Silva after UFC 297. Here’s a broader look at the female stars of the card.
UFC 297 Strickland vs Du Plessis PPV and It’s Feminine Superstars
Per the official reports, UFC 297 will feature 12 fights in total. There will be only women fights in the card. It means, that for three men’s bout, there would be each female contest.
The main card, the prelims, and the early prelims will have one women’s bout on board respectively. Prior to the co-main event clash- Raquel Pennington vs Mayra Bueno Silva for the women’s bantamweight title, Gillian Robertson will take on Polyana Viana at a strawweight contest in the prelims.
In the early prelims of the card, Canada’s Jasmine Jasudavicius will go against Brazil’s Priscila Cachoeira. It will be a women’s strawweight bout. All three women’s bouts are well-matched and are expected to deliver to the fan’s expectations.
